Travelers have had to deal with many restrictions due to the global pandemic over the past couple of years. People traveling to Canada had to take a rapid antigen before boarding the flight to their destination. Canada, like most countries, has adjusted its travel rules and regulations according to the pandemic conditions. Fortunately, the most recent regulation seeks to ease the burden on travelers.
Fully vaccinated individuals can now board the flight and travel to Canada without the need for any covid testing. As long as they are fully vaccinated with a vaccine recognized by the Government of Canada, they can enter the country through air, land, or water.
This rule is applicable from the 1st of April 2022. The rule may change based on the changes in the epidemiological situation in the country, so it is a good idea to check for updates before leaving for Canada.
If you intend to travel before the 1st of April 2022, you need to follow the previous travel instructions. You will need to take a rapid antigen test no less than one day before your departure time and present the results before boarding the flight.
Not all vaccines are accepted by the government of Canada. You will only be considered a fully-vaccinated individual if you take the following vaccines and complete the required dosage. You can combine two different vaccines if necessary or take the required dosage of one vaccine. For example, you can enter Canada if you have had two Covishield doses or one dose of Covishield and one dose of Covaxin.
You need to upload the proof of your vaccination on the ArriveCAN portal before you can gain entry into the country.
To be considered fully vaccinated, travelers must have completed the required dosage of the vaccines mentioned above. The second dose should be administered at least 14 calendar days before your arrival in Canada.
You should exhibit no signs or symptoms of Covid before you arrive. If you have uploaded all required documents into the ArriveCAN portal, you may be able to travel freely without the need for additional testing as long as you follow proper public health protocols like masking, hygiene, and reasonable social distancing.
Travelers may be selected for random testing on or before arrival. You can still travel to the country as your test is being processed, and there will be no need to quarantine yourself for 14 days as you wait for the test to arrive. Follow reasonable safety measures and maintain a list of people who have close contact with you during the first 14 days.
